How Do You Define Success?
Learn how to define success to know when your team is winning.
Video Transcript: Here comes wall number three: define success. How do we know if we're winning? If you went to a baseball game and you walked up halfway through, you want to walk up and say, which team has given the most effort? No, you'd say, who's winning? We want to win. You have to define how they'll know if they're winning. One of the subtopics to this step is a budget. Now, it's very normal that if you were going to say, hey, I want you to plan the staff Christmas party, your budget is, and then you gave them a budget, that's very normal. How often, though, do we give people a time budget, and yet the waste that sneaks into your system because what you thought, subconsciously would take maybe an hour, maybe 10 minutes, they got confused, they did something wrong, and it took them, like my example 25 hours to do something that my expectation was one hour. So in this category is where you're going to add on; how long do you think this should take? So it's going to sound like this: it's going to say; we're going to be doing these assessments. You'll know if you're winning. If they all go out a week before they're due, a day before their due. And after they missed the deadline, send it to their manager. Your time budget is one hour a week.
